The night before... 6-12-2011

Well… here goes something new.  I have thought about blogging (is that a word?) in the past but I guess it took the right experience for me to actually do it.

Jeff (my husband) and I really like going on afternoon drives fairly close to home. Actually, for his birthday a few months back we went on one “over-nighter,” which was awesome but mostly our drives are from 2-4 hours long. What we really enjoy is taking in the scenery, driving down any road that looks interesting, contemplating unique buildings that we see, and sometimes dining at an “off the beaten track” restaurant. We don’t even mind if it rains for a different perspective on thingsJ

Our most recent adventure, which we will begin tomorrow morning whenever we get up and feel like leaving, will be an expansion on the idea of an afternoon drive. We will simply head a direction of our choosing and explore. For this trip, we have chosen West. We have some ideas of places we would like to see but we will begin this journey with no solid plans or hotel reservations. We will spend some nights in hotels but we are also packing a cooler, a queen size air mattress, and flashlights and plan to spend the night in our van when possible (casinos and Wal-Mart’s let you park overnight for free!).  The only plan that is set is that we have 12 days before we need to be home. Otherwise, we will stop, go, and whatever at our whim. And… we are very excited to hit the road!

I will attempt to post stories of our adventures everyday (with pix) but it will depend on free WIFI so Caribou, Starbucks, McDonalds or wherever… look out, Jeff and Sue are conquering the West!
