Well...we tried. The van was actually fairly comfortable but because of a migraine that started for Jeff at Subway, and the smell of the new air mattress filling the hot confined space (unable to open windows due to mosquitoes), I began the search for a hotel. This was difficult. I finally spoke to a guy at the Fairfield Inn and he said that due to flooding in the area most of the hotels were completely booked. He gave us the name of a hotel that he knew had some rooms and we settled in for the night.
The front page of the morning paper is covered with stories of flooding, closed roads, broken levees (Hamburg, Iowa), and one highway is shut down due to a sinkhole (HWY 29, N Fargo). Some of the lakes we passed on HWY 94 yesterday were lapping onto the freeway. The forecast here is rain... rain... and more rain...
Our check out time is noon and our plan is to hit the road and keep heading west towards Bozeman... I think:) Hopefully wherever we end up there will be clearer skies and dry roads:)
